The PrintYour2AR-15 from PrintYour2A is a single-piece AR-15 that is reinforced using a homemade brace and trunnion cut from sheet metal.
Developed in 2020 from the original Defense Distributed v5 lower, this design recaptures the sleeker look of a milspec AR-15 lower. Many other designs have moved away from this aesthetic in favor of beefy reinforcing plastic; absent that, this lower instead uses two bent metal braces which slot onto the lower to provide reinforcement at the buffer tower and front trunnion.
The reinforcing braces for this lower can be purchased from the creator’s webstore at printyour2a.com. At some point instructions and press jigs will be developed to facilitate cutting and bending these braces at home.
