UNSEENKILLER'S UFG9 & THE STARLOST
For the Halloween issue of the DEFCAD newsletter, we honor the sacred dead and celebrate spooks like the Unseen Killer, who's now become the most prolific designer in 3D2A. We hail his ghostly MAC-11 improvements, internal geometry models, and total overhauls like the Ergo Harlot. This month, the killer takes on the classic 'case-gun' with the UFG-9. The under folding glock adds a carrying case system for your G19 platforms, while allowing both optical and brace functionality to be directly integrated. The project includes a large number of modified case designs, and a square parametric model is just the thing to tempt you to design your own.
The much anticipated Not-A-Glock by Just-In-Case is also finally released. The developer describes it as an excellent beginner's project, and we agree. This project is almost entirely printable, and it stands out as a great experiment in the home manufacture of magazines and fire control groups. We make special mention of Kaewon's mostly-DIY bolt action 22LR rifle, the Wisp, this month as well.
We conclude this month's highlight of new releases with The Starlost by DrSkeletonsCelebrityToilet. This project is a 15mm muzzle-loaded signal launcher with roots back to the Captain America launcher system. The Starlost uses a .209 primer to propel a printed projectile. Its overall barrel chamber design, including integrated rifling, is especially well thought through and worth a look. The space age flare is just pure bonus.

FREEMAN1337 PROSECUTED BY DOJ
Longtime Gatalog developer and Rocketchat admin Freeman1337 was remanded to custoday in a New York federal court this month. The case is United States v. Celentano, 1:24-MJ-01204-JJM-1. Freeman, who was denied bail because of his friends' fedposting, will have his devices forensically examined by the United States “on a rolling basis.” The consequences of a Gatalog admin having his devices and accesses collected by federal agencies has once again raised the question of The Gatalog's (lack of) security practices, discussed in a section to follow.

TACTICAL FORCE GEAR
Hey Gun Owner,
Illinois banned the sale or possession of semiautomatic weapons on a Tuesday when legislation was signed by Gov. J.B. Pritzker.
Pritzker acted quickly after the House voted 68-41 to make Illinois the ninth state, as well as Washington, D.C., to prohibit the sale or possession of semiautomatic weapons.
Pritzker, who was sworn into his second term on a Monday, celebrated what he described as a four-year struggle against "the powerful forces" of gun activist groups.
Because of this news, we are afraid we will no longer be able to offer our Tundra AR Combat Scopes.
For this reason, we are offering these bad boys for $265 OFF – until our inventory is liquidated.
Please grab one while you can and throw it on your AR or combat rifle.
You won’t find a sight of this caliber at this price anywhere else online or at your local gun store.
Yes - Send Me My Tundra Combat Scope $265 OFF!
Take Care and Arm Up America,

Remixes
MP22K
There have been a few trends and passing fads in GunCAD and DIY defense by now. Sometimes kit guns are all the rage, and other times its accessories or remixes.
Thankfully, Black Lotus Coalition has returned to their roots with an assortment of remixes for the MP22K, Carbine, and SD by Coop by way of Moderator Gage. Presented in the image above is the Grid, Atlas Arms, and Hive remixes, but there are many many more found on the bottom of the MP22K page where all other modifications can be found. Be sure to check them all out, as this is a great excuse to revisit classic designs.

GATALOG ROCKETCHAT UNENCRYPTED
A friend passes along this PSA for anyone still silly enough to visit the Gatalog Rocketchat. Its unsurprising that the group with the most high-minded privacy rhetoric ended up having the most low-rent, unencrypted security. With any luck they'll figure something out before their DMs and beta chats are all dumped somewhere.

James Reeves Shoots 3DP Guns with PSR
Guntubers Print Shoot Repeat and James Reeves spent an afternoon recently shooting a wide range of classic FDM 3D Printed Guns, and it seems like neither of them quite got what they wanted from the experience.
While both characters are clearly quite friendly with each other, James is extremely skeptical of any 3D kit value propositions, and the result is a lot of uncomfortable humor. While fun to shoot, we learn that the "coolest" 3D guns are, at least from a mainstream point of view, still seen as costly white elephants.
Yes, there are clear, hard limits to the practicality of popular 3D and DIY firearms, but the culture is still important beyond a hobby and handicraft. With luck and a stiff upper lip, we might find we can maintain serious politics while admitting the relative silliness of the "state of the art."
