Printed Armour-Piercing Impact Grenade (PAPIG)

A printed copy of the PIRA IAAG MK2 which was a hand-thrown, fin stabilized improvised anti-vehicle grenade used during the early 1990s. Like many of the original PIRA made examples this simple version does not incorporate a fly-off lever and should be handled with care once the safety pin is removed. When the grenade is thrown and impacts a target, a small inertia pellet (made from a bolt and two nuts in this case) flies forward at high speed against a nail (centrally positioned in a plug) which sets off a primed empty shotgun cartridge with a plain detonator secured inside. The main filling is 450g - 500g Semtex-H or other plastic explosive. The PAPIG uses plug-fit components retained using glue.

The original IAAG MK2 used a plastic funnel as a shaped charge cone which can be printed in this case. Alternatively copper filament can be used which recent experiments have shown to produce results comparable to commercially manufactured shaped charges.

Files for an alternative printable initiation assembly are included, one which accepts a shotgun primer and one which accepts an 8mm blank. These may also be adapted to use any suitably sized primed & cut down center-fire cartridge.
