I have been trying for some time find a suitable 223/556 magazine speed loader within the 3D printing community that I liked without success. So, I designed my own!
I modeled mine after a very nice molded plastic one that I purchased some time back. I obviously made minor adjustments to allow for easier printing and assembly.
I had the best luck printing with the each end standing upright. (put the ends opposite of the joint on the print bed) You will need to use supports for the overhangs and magnet holes. The pivot pin prints well standing upright as well and the pusher is pretty obvious, but I’d add supports for the magnet spot on it too.
use 2mm diameter rods hammered in from the interior circle side. I used a very small punch to push them in as far as they would go. The pivot pin is 30mm across so as long as your steel rods are at least 50mm you will have plenty of overhang on each side.
use 4 neodymium magnets; two will go under the feed (right) side, one under the mag (left) side, and one in the pusher. I’m sure I don’t need to explain this, but verify the pull before you add them. i just super glued them in, and they seem to be staying well enough.
After it is printed it folds up nicely.
— 2mm diameter steel rods for the joint // I ordered these: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B076XWBVB7/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_71A7113A5S9AXYHGW42K?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
— 8mm x 3mm neodymium magnets for holding the pusher in place and keeping the speed loader folded together when stored // I can’t remember where I got mine, but Amazon has plenty: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09DC7PKP3/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_4728E551YK1P3B8RCV7T
— Mil Spec Magazine catch assembly (not a certain one; as long as it’s mil spec it should fit)

Just a heads up, I’ve just recently completed this model and printed it for myself. I haven’t had a chance to see how well it holds up. If you have advice on ways to improve it, please let me know in the comments. This is my first contribution to the 3D printing community in this way and I want to provide a quality model for the community like the many that I’ve had the pleasure of printing for myself.
Best of luck when printing. I hope the model brings you as much joy as it has me and mine…!
Update: (14March2022) current
I didn't love how loose the Pusher was after the track had been widened out. so I widened the pusher to fit better. cheers…
Update: (13March2022) 1.0.2
It was pointed out that the pin was a very tight fit, even requiring a drill out in order to work. My brother said he kept bending pins… 😕 I’ve added model (STL) files with slightly bigger holes to hopefully help avoid this problem.
Update: (10March2022) 1.0.1
It was pointed out that some steel rounds were did not fit. I’ve updated the models and gcode files with a slightly wider track so that this is not a problem. I apologize if you’d already invested time in a print.
Initial release was in early March, but this is the first time I've had it on this site.
