The APP M-57 is a small plastic-bodied anti-personnel landmine manufactured in North Korea / DPRK. It is of the simple two-section hinged type with a distinctive cross-hatched pattern on the lid.
The main charge is a 250g RDX/TNT demolition block into which an MUV type fuze is inserted. A winged striker retaining pin rests on an internal slotted wall which the striker bar runs through. When the mine stepped on, a tab moulded into the lid pushes the fuze downwards, freeing the striker from the winged pin and triggering the detonator.
EOD reference model.
