The FA-23 (Fusil d'Assaut-modèle 23) is an assault rifle based on the SIG-550.

It's chambered for the 5.56x45 and feature a 20 inches barrel with a twist rate optimised for the US M855 but this can be change with different barrel. The working principle consist of a gas operated long stroke piston with a rotating bolt locking it self in the barrel extension (like an AR15). The fire mode consist of semi-auto (1), auto (30) and the safety (S). When the magazine is out of bullet, the bolt catch activte via the magazine folower.

The receviers are of steel and the stock, hand guards and grip are made of polymer.

The magazine can hold 30 round and is made of clear polymer to count the remaining rounds. The stock can be fold on the right side of the gun and the trigger guard can be rotated to use gloves. A picatiny adpator can also be mounted on the upper recevier to use various optics. The iron sight use drum like the SIG with 4 positions plus a night sight on the 100 meter (1) position and folding sight at the front.

The FA-23M has recevied some improvements. The lower hanguard is reinforced and it can recieve a picatinny adaptator . The magazine is reinforced to and the mag well is modified to suite it . The barrel as been modify to permit the use of riffle launche grenade.
