"Wildfire" Printable AR-15 Lower

about

The second entry in PotatoSociety’s “Fire” series, the Wildfire is a printable AR-15 lower which advances the design of the earlier Ghostfire by not requiring a single metal part. The lower is assembled using printable bolts, the designs of which are included in the package. A novel “riveting” technique is also used to attach one part which utilizes 1.75mm filament as the rivet source, which is melted into place. Deep attention has been paid towards making each part easy to print and use. Unlike the Ghostfire, the Wildfire moves away from the “bolt-together” design seen in this earlier model. While the lower is still assembled by screwing parts in place, there is now a clear “core” lower and all bolt-on items (the buffer tower, front takedown pin plates) are attached to this core part. Like the Ghostfire, however, the buffer tower is reinforced using side rail struts. A “design plate” is incorporated which allows a custom design to be displayed on the side of the lower. Several morale plates are included and additional custom ones can easily be made by any gun printer. A line of accessories is also included in the data package, among which are sights, thermal barrel covers, a foregrip, a flashlight attachment and more. Those accessories meant to attach to the upper receiver utilize the open source Keymod system. The lower was designed by Potatosociety as part of an attempt to start a media wildfire in response to the rise of threats to liberty both foreign and domestic.
