I'm a self-taught hobbyist gun designer who thinks that, if the human species is ever going to advance towards "being aliens", requires us (all) to be able to get past basic hurdles of less-dangerous-than-spaceship technologies like "gun ownership", and who thinks that in an age of distributing manufacture, since people are going to make these anyway, they should make the ones that are as good and safe as possible, so as to minimize all unintended consequences.
